How can I order an instrument?
Please use our order form on www.streichinstrumente-verleih.de. The instrument will be prepared by our luthiers and shipped to you. As soon as the instrument has left our house, you will be contacted. Please also note the estimated delivery times of the instruments.
For double basses 1/8 size and up, please expect a delivery time of 6 - 10 weeks within our delivery areas or to our pickup stations. If your postal code does not start with 8, 9 or 0 or you are not in the Berlin city area, we will contact you and offer you a pickup station after receiving your order.

What is included in the set?
For violin, viola and cello, included are bow, hard case or soft bag and rosin, as well as a shoulder rest where applicable. Double basses include bow and bag; rosin can be ordered additionally.

How is the instrument delivered?
The delivery of violin, viola and cello is done with DHL and the shipping costs are covered by us. The same applies to mini basses in 1/32 and 1/16 size.
Important: please keep the original packaging for a return!
Empty boxes/packaging that we have to send you for the return will be charged to you.

Doubles basses in 1/8 size and up are delivered by our own drivers within the postal codes that start with 8, 9 and 0 as well as in the Berlin city area. For this service we charge 30,00 € in transport costs. For all other customers, there are pickup stations in Cologne, Rödermark (Frankfurt), Stuttgart and Munich. In Austria there are pickup stations in Vienna, Graz and Linz. Delivery tours are scheduled every 8 - 10 weeks to these regions and pickup stations and we will contact you for a delivery appointment. Please consider giving us your mobile phone number for ease of contact.

Concerning return costs for double basses, we are happy to inform you via phone or e-mail.
 
Is there a minimum rental period?
Yes, the minimum rental period for cellos and double basses is three months. For violins and violas the minimum rental period is one month.

What are the costs for a rental instrument?
The costs vary depending on the instrument. The categories to the left will tell you which costs to expect for which instrument.

Are there instruments for left-handed people?
Yes, we also offer instruments for left-handed people in most sizes. Simply request this in the comment box during the order process or contact us.

I would like to purchase a new instrument. Is there a reduction to the sales price?
Yes, 50% of the rental feels you paid in the last two years will be deducted from the price of an instrument of your choice. You may choose to buy an instrument of the same or higher quality model. 50% of your paid rental fees will always be credited to your purchase.

Can I rent a bow by itself?
No, unfortunately we can only offer complete sets for rent.

How can I pay the invoices?
You may pay your invoices via direct debit. We are happy to send you a printed permission form on request.

What is covered by the annual repair and maintenance fee?
Up to a set value of 4.500 € we are offering a maintenance fee which includes the following:

1. Loss without fault (e.g. by theft)

2. All damages to the instrument, bag, case or bow, e.g. scratches on the varnish, fallen or broken bridge, fallen sound post, broken peg or tailpiece, etc.

The maintenance fee does not include:

1. Wear and tear on strings or bow hairs.

2. Damage or loss due to gross negligence (e.g. left on a train, cracks due to strong heat or contact with water, or significant temperature changes in a short time). This means that you are asked not to leave the instrument in a hot car during the summer, and to acclimate the instrument slowly to room temperatures when bringing it inside during the winter. Never put it close to an oven or heater and be mindful of floor heating.

3. Non-domestic trips.

What about damages to an instrument or set of a value over 4.500 € and which is not covered by the maintenance fee?
These instruments or sets have to be insured against damages and/or loss at your own cost.
Some household contents insurance policies or liability insurance may be able to include instruments in their coverage. If you wish to get insurance coverage specifically for the instrument, we can recommend several insurance companies that offer such instrument policies.

What do I do in the event of damage?
If you notice damage to your instrument, please contact us as soon as possible. We will provide you with a replacement instrument and you will return the damaged instrument to us. If there is damage to a bow, please contact us as well.
Please do not allow a third party to repair the instrument, as the insurance will not be applicable in this case and you will have to pay for the repair!

The instrument was damaged during transport. What do I do?
If the instrument shows visible damage from transport (e.g. box dented, signs of water damage), please get a receipt from the driver of the freight company. This is the only way for insurance to cover it! If there is damage that was not outwardly visible, please contact us.

What do I do if I need the next size up of the instrument?
To request a change of instrument, simply log into your personal customer account. You will find the option to exchange the instrument and to order a new instrument. The too small instrument should be returned at your own cost to Streichinstrumente-Verleih Nestler GmbH, Eubabrunner Str. 17, 08258 Markneukirchen.
Not prepaid parcels will not be accepted.

Cellos must be shipped in the original packaging. Upon request we can send you a return label which enables you to drop off the parcel at the nearest post office. We offer this service to our customers in Germany for 30,00 € and in Austria for 35,00 €.

If you need the next size of double bass, please contact us by email or call us, and we will set a delivery date for you. Please also expect a delivery time of 6 - 10 weeks in this case.

I want to stop renting the instrument. What do I do?
If you would like to cancel the rental agreement, we require a cancellation in writing in accordance with our cancellation period. You may send this by mail, email or fax. Prerequisite for an end of the contract is the return of the instrument.

Is there a cancellation period?
Yes, you may cancel your rental contract with a notice period of 4 weeks.
For example: If your contract starts on the 6th of June, you may give us your notice by the 5th of any month. So we need to receive your cancellation by the 5th of January in order for the contract to end on the 5th of February.

I have already paid the monthly rent but I have cancelled my contract. What happens to my payment?
Rent paid in advance will of course be refunded. However, please note that the maintenance fee is due once a year and is non-refundable.
